After Alex Ferguson, Paul Scholes set to retire
The 38-year-old has not featured for the newly crowned champions since January, when he was sidelined with injury.

Manchester United will bid an emotional farewell to two iconic figures at Old Trafford on Sunday. Vetran midfielder Paul Scholes will join manager Sir Alex Ferguson in bowing out at the Theatre of Dreams after a glittering playing career.

The 38-year-old has not featured for the newly crowned champions since January, when he was sidelined with injury, but he is now set to make a final home appearance against Swansea. Scholes will be retiring for the second time. Scholes initially retired at the end of the 2011 campaign, after United had won their 19th league title, only to return to action in January 2012 after deciding he had quit too soon.

Scholes has yet to officially announce his return to retirement but it is believed that he will not play on next season after 716 games and 155 goals and instead take up a coaching role under new manager David Moyes.

Manchester United will play their last match of the season on May 19 and that will also mark the end of an era at Manchester United with both Ferguson and Scholes deciding to call it a time.
