Sharvari Wagh Recalls Working with Sharmin Segal in Bajirao Mastani: ‘She Always Wanted...' | Exclusive
Sharvari Wagh and Sharmin Segal were assistant director to Sanjay Leela Bhansali during the making of Bajirao Mastani.

Sharvari Wagh is currently basking in the success of her recently released film Munjya. The horror comedy emerged as a hit at the box office, earning great reviews from fans and critics alike. The actress, who made her debut with Bunty Aur Babli 2, was previously an assistant director for some hit Bollywood films.

Interestingly, Sharvari began her journey in the film industry as an assistant director on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani, where she honed her skills behind the scenes. This path also intersected with actress Sharmin Segal, who gained recognition through Bhansali’s ‘Heeramandi,’ where she too started her career as an assistant director. In an exclusive conversation with News18, the actress recollected working with Sharmin on the film sets.

Sharvari reminisced about her early days on set, sharing insights into her experience. “We’ve had so much fun during the shoot for Bajirao Mastani. I was under the guidance of Sanjay Sir when I did the second half of the film as an assistant director.”

Although they worked in separate units, Sharvari and Sharmin knew each other. “We all had like separate units at that point actually, and I was on the action unit, when I started assisting so we weren’t actually on the same unit. I wasn’t working on the same unit as Sharmin was, but I have interacted with her I knew, she wanted to be an actor ever since then. So did I, and I think we shared this passion for acting and performing and I’m so happy to see her in Heeramandi.”

Apart from Munjya, Sharvari also made an extended cameo appearance in Junaid Khan’s debut film, Maharaj. The actress has been earning rave reviews for her impactful role. News18 Showsha reviewed her performance and shared, “Sharvari Wagh lights up every frame with poise. She makes an impactful extended cameo. Her commendable acting skills and ability to mold her character effortlessly speak volumes about her dedication to the craft.”

Sharvari now heads into the release of her next Vedaa, directed by Nikkhil Advani, in which she plays the titular role. Aditya Chopra has also been cast in the much-anticipated YRF Spy Universe film with Alia Bhatt.
