Ammy Virk has revealed that he was offered Diljit Dosanjh’s role in the film Crew but he could not do it because of date-related issues. In a recent exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, Ammy praised Diljit for opening doors for Punjabi artists in Bollywood. He then revealed that he was offered Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Crew but could not do it due to his schedule.
“It feels really good. He is creating spaces for so many other people. He is doing so well in Bollywood. He is being offered films in Mumbai. If he isn’t available, then we get calls for the same (laughs). It hasn’t happened yet but yes, the opposite has happened. There was a movie I had to do but my dates weren’t available. I am talking about Crew. After that, they went to Diljit Paaji,” Ammy said.
Released in March 2024, Crew stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon in key roles. Diljit Dosanjh also played the role of a customs officer in the comedy-drama. He was shown as Kriti Sanon’s love interest. The film revolves around the three air hostesses who stumble upon a dead passenger smuggling gold biscuits. They decide to steal the gold as their airline heads to bankruptcy. Their thirst for more made for an entertaining film.
Crew received majorly positive reviews from all. It was also praised by celebrities like Karan Johar, Tahira Kashyap, and Shanaya Kapoor among others. Filmmaker Karan Johar showered the film with love and kind words saying, “CREW was unapologetic and super fun. The girls killed it. Kudos to the powerhouse and my Gemini soulmate @ektarkapoor… the fashionably forever filmmaker @rheakapoor… the eternal fountain of genius talent @tabutiful… the always awesome and super gorgeous @kritisanon… and last but never the least my POO forever!! What a superstar you are my bebo @kareenakapoorkhan #girlpowerrules.”
Later, Vidya Balan also cheered for team Crew and commended the
the success of a film that showcases women in leading roles, especially considering the age of the leading actresses. “Not all macho blockbusters are doing well. I think we need to remember that and here’s a film that had three women lead it, and it was so much fun. They weren’t taking themselves too seriously, and it thrills me that a film with three women – and at the age that they are at, is doing so well,” she said.
Crew is currently streaming on Netflix.
