The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) commenced the WB Madhyamik exams 2024 on February 2. While students appeared enthusiastic as they appeared for exams, a woman who hails from a village in the state displayed her resilience as she turned up in a hospital to write her Class 10 exams only a few hours after giving birth to a child.
With a newborn baby in her lap, Parul Khatun, who is a Class 10 student at Kashimnagar High School in Shankarpur village in Suti in Murshidabad, wrote her English paper the next morning after delivering the baby at night. Parul is now making headlines for her courageous move as she boldly refused to take it easy, as advised by her family members and even doctors.
Reportedly, Parul was admitted to Mahesail Rural Hospital in Suti after she complained of labour pain on Thursday night. The same night, she gave birth to a baby boy. Since the exams were scheduled to commence on Friday, Parul decided not to give up and write her exams in the presence of the examiner. Despite being physically weak, she chose to continue with her exam following which the arrangements were made in the hospital itself with the help of authorities and management.
Deepa Biswas, a teacher at Aurangabad Girls High School, informed that the arrangements were made by the hospital authorities to examine in the right manner. Meanwhile, the father of the woman, Zaidul Sekh, in a media interaction, said, “After the delivery of my daughter, I thought she might not be able to appear for exams this year. But my daughter is very strong-minded. She took an exam despite her physical weakness. All other tests will also be given.”
