In Uttar Pradesh, a Sub Inspector (SI) gets a grade pay of Rs 4,200. Under this, his monthly salary ranges from Rs 9,300 to Rs 34,800. Sub-Inspector is also given other allowances including house rent allowance, and dearness allowance. Sub-Inspectors (SI) hold a distinct position in the law enforcement hierarchy. They are responsible for overseeing a team of police personnel, including head constables, and managing police posts. Under Indian police regulations, the SI is authorised to file charge sheets in court, a prerogative that makes them the primary investigating officers. SI’s pivotal role grants them the power to conduct investigations, often with subordinate officers acting under their direction.
