SSC Launches App to Upload Live Photos For Recruitment Exam Forms

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has launched an app for mandatory live photo uploading for online applications. The commission has taken this step after receiving complaints about difficulty in uploading photos in Selection Post Examination Phase-12. The app named ‘MY SSC’ can be downloaded by going to the Google Play Store.

SSC has decided to upload live photos to prevent fraud through editing photos in recruitment examinations. To upload live photos, it is necessary to have a place with good lighting and a plain background. While taking live photos, one should not be wearing a cap, mask, or glasses.

Earlier the rule was that the photo should not be older than three months before the release of recruitment notification. However, the commission did not have any system to find out how many months ago the photo was taken. With the live photo uploading rule of SSC, candidates will now be freed from getting their photos made again and again. Whenever they have to apply, candidates will be able to go to the ‘My SSC’ app and upload their live photos.

SSC had earlier unveiled a new website – ssc.gov.in — which went live on February 17, 2024. However, the commission also mentioned that the existing website –ssc.nic.in — will continue to be accessible to the candidates through a link which will be available on the new website. “The Staff Selection Commission takes pride in announcing the launch of a new website which has been made live on February 17, 2024. The existing website will also be accessible through a link on the new website,” the SSC notification read.

“All candidates are advised to do fresh OTR on the new website of the Staff Selection Commission i.e., https://ssc.gov.in/, as One Time Registration (OTR) previously done on earlier version of commission’s website i.e., https://ssc.nic.in/, stands null and void. The detailed instructions for one time registration may be seen under section ‘For Candidates > Special Instructions > Instructions for filling One Time Registration (OTR),” it added.
