Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday said that discrepancies have been found in NEET UG 2024 and whoever is found guilty of irregularities, even if it is the National Testing Agency (NTA), will not be spared, reported ANI. The government is working to correct the discrepancies, he added. The education minister also said that even if big officials are involved in this, they will not be spared. He added that a “lot of improvement is required in NTA. The government is concerned about this, no culprit will be spared, they will get the harshest punishment.”.
“Two types of irregularities have come to light in connection with NEET. The initial information was that some students were given grace marks due to less time…secondly, some irregularities have come to light in two places. I assure the students and parents that the government has taken this seriously. We have received the information, we will take all the issues to a decisive stage,” Pradhan said.

Pradhan also added that wherever such irregularities are reported with concrete information, action is being taken under the supervision of the court. The government is committed to ensuring that an important exam like NEET is 100 percent transparent. “I want to assure all the students once again that this entire matter is under the court’s scrutiny. The Supreme Court itself is keeping an eye on this. We will not let any wrong happen and whoever is responsible for this will be held guilty and action will be taken against them,” he told the media.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2024 was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for over 24 lakh candidates at 4,750 centers in 571 cities. The NEET-UG 2024 result was declared on June 4. As soon as the result was declared, there was an uproar and many students alleged discrepancies. The National Testing Agency (NTA) later announced plans to schedule a re-test for 1563 candidates who were granted grace marks due to loss of time. The re-exam will be held on June 23. This intends to reverse the results declared on June 4. The original scorecards of these 1563 candidates will be cancelled and withdrawn.
