The Ministry of Education (MoE) has begun the application process for the National Award to Teachers (Higher Education) 2024. The eligible candidates can fill in the details and submit the application forms as instructed. As per the notification, the award is open to all the faculty members of colleges, universities, higher educational institutions/polytechnics across the country. A cash prize of Rs 50,000 along with a medal and certificate is bestowed on winners. Besides nominating self, there are other specific criteria on the basis of which nominations can be made. National Award To Teachers 2024: Eligibility Criteria
The award is open to all the faculty members of college, universities, higher educational institutions / polytechnics in India, satisfying the following conditions:
i) The Nominee should be a regular faculty member.
ii) Should have at least five years of full-time teaching experience at an Undergraduate and/or Post-graduate level.
iii) Should NOT be above 55 years of age as on the last date of receiving application for the awards.
iv) Vice-Chancellor/ Director / Principal (regular or officiating) are not eligible to apply.
However, individuals who have held such positions earlier, but are below 55 years of age and still in active service are eligible.
National Award To Teachers 2024:Selection Process
Selection Procedure for NAT-2024 will follow a two-step process.
1) Preliminary Search cum Screening Committee for initial shortlisting of candidates
2) Committee of ‘Jury’ for final section of awardees from the shortlisted candidates
National Award To Teachers 2024: Application Deadline
The deadline to fill the nomination for the awards is June 20, 2024. A total of Thirty five Awards (25 in Category-I and 10 in Category-II) is conferred every year.
The selected awardees will be felicitated on September 5, (Teachers Day) to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India and a notable teacher.
The purpose of the National Award to Teachers 2024 in Higher Educational Institutions is to acknowledge the distinctive contributions of some of the finest faculty members in India and honour their efforts in bringing change in the life of students impacting the overall education system.
