'Would Request CSK Fans to...': Sunrisers Hyderabad Opener's Plea to Chennai Fans Ahead of IPL Final

Their dream of witnessing Chennai Super Kings defend their IPL title on May 26 ended, Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma has requested the fans in the Tamil Nadu capital to back his franchise as they take on title favourites Kolkata Knight Riders tonight at Chepauk.

CSK were knocked out from the IPL playoffs race after losing to Royal Challengers Bengaluru last week.

“I know in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have got a massive fan following here. I would request all the CSK fans to come and support us in the final,” Abhishek said in a video shared by IPL.

KKR topped the IPL 2024 points table before getting the better of SRH in the first qualifier to advance to the final. SRH, who finished second, then squared off against Rajasthan Royals in the second qualifier and they outclassed the former champions to enter the title clash.

Abhishek, who has been in stunning form with the bat, worked his magic with the ball and took two crucial wickets with his left-arm spin to dent RR.

“My father will be very happy, he was a left-arm spinner. He has been working really hard on my bowling,” Abhishek said.

“Somehow, I knew that if I kept on working on my bowling I could contribute to my team. From the junior cricket, I have been bowling a lot. I was waiting for this opportunity. It was not easy, I had to convince my captain and coach because they had not seen me bowling much,” he added.

Abhishek said former India allrounder Yuvraj Singh has always encouraged him to work on his bowling.

“Whenever I had talks with Yuvi Paaji about my bowling, he used to say that I can be a better bowler than him, so that thing I had in my mind and he will be really happy with my performance,” he said.
