The 2024 Women's Asia Cup gets underway from July 19 in Sri Lanka with seven-time champions India hoping to extend their domination.

The ninth edition of the Women’s Asia Cup is set to get underway from July 19. The T20 competition will get underway with UAE taking on Nepal.

Arch-rivals India and Pakistan will take on each other in the second game of the opening day.

The continental showpiece will be hosted by Sri Lanka this year. India became the champions of the last Women’s Asia Cup by defeating Sri Lanka by eight wickets in Sylhet, Bangladesh.

Seven-time champions India have played the Asia Cup final in every edition so far and lost just once to Bangladesh in 2018.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka have finishes as the runners-up five times while Pakistan have featured in the final in two editions.

India are the most successful team in the history of the competition. This year’s edition of the Women’s Asia Cup will witness an all-female team of match officials too.

Women’s Asia Cup Teams And Format

The tournament has been played in T20 format since 2012. Eight teams will compete in this year’s Women’s Asia Cup. India, along with Pakistan, Nepal and the UAE, have been pooled in Group A. Along with hosts Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Thailand are in Group B. Teams in each group will play each other once in the league stage and the top two sides will make it to the knockouts.

Women’s Asia Cup Indian Squad

The Indian team will feature in the competition under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur. Smriti Mandhana was named the vice captain of the side. Shweta Sehrawat, Saika Ishaque, Tanuja Kanwer and Meghna Singh have been named the travelling reserves.

Women’s Asia Cup 2024

Both the semi-finals of the 2024 Women’s Asia Cup will be held on July 26 while the final is scheduled to be played on July 28. All the matches of the tournament will be played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla. India will take on the UAE on July 21 and in their next game, they will be up against Nepal two days later, on July 23.

All matches of the Women’s Asia Cup will be telecast on the Star Sports Network in India. The live streaming of the same will be available on the Disney+ Hotstar app and website.
