With their aim to popularise cricket in USA, the ICC has taken the 2024 T20 World Cup in North America with the country co-hosting the even alongside the Caribbean islands. Some of the biggest names from the world of cricket have descended in New York and Dallas for the first round of the world cup which got underway earlier this month.
Cricket royalty Sachin Tendulkar is also in the ‘Big Apple’ along with former India allrounder and head coach Ravi Shastri for tournament.
The two tried their hands at baseball, a sport that shares some resemblances with cricket.
In a clip shared by the ICC, Tendulkar turned hitter while Shastri played the role of a pitcher at a fan park in New York set up for the T20 World Cup.

On Sunday, New York will witness arguably the biggest rivalry in the world of cricket when India and Pakistan square off at the Nassau Country Cricket Stadium.

Tendulkar, who has been part of several memorable India-Pakistan matches, recalled his first experience of the rivalry.
“India vs Pakistan has always been a big match, exhilarating,” he said in a video shared by ICC. “My first World Cup experience against Pakistan was way back in 1992 in Australia and from there all of the number of matches that we’ve played against each other, they’ve all been exciting super exciting. I know both the teams are well prepared to go out and give their best. When it comes to sharing, the best of luck that I have is a little more towards India.”
India defeated Ireland in their tournament opener to kickstart their campaign on a positive note. However, Pakistan suffered a stunning defeat at the hands of USA in a contest that was decided by Super Over.
The two teams have faced each other seven times in a T20 World Cup with India winning on occasions while Pakistan once.
