SRH vs GT IPL 2024 Weather Prediction: Will Thunderstorm Deny Sunrisers Hyderabad a Top-two Finish?
SRH will host the Gujarat Titans who have been eliminated already. The Orange Army will look to book a knockout berth when they take on a battered and bruised GT at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have been a team to watch in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Pat Cummins stepping into the captain’s shoes has done wonders for the franchise as they are en route to the playoffs for the first time since 2020. Currently, they are placed fourth with 14 points and are a victory away from getting the ‘Q’ mark against their name on the table.

SRH will host the Gujarat Titans who have been eliminated already. The Orange Army will look to book a knockout berth when they take on a battered and bruised GT at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal. However, the Hyderabad weather might spoil the party on Thursday evening.

As predicted by AccuWeather.com, it will be a cloudy evening on Thursday in Hyderabad with the temperature hovering around 28 degrees Celsius and a 40 per cent chance of precipitation.

Later in the night, the temperature is likely to dip by 3 degrees with a dense cloud cover – 87% – and fair chances of a thunderstorm hitting the city.

What if SRH vs GT gets washed out

If the rain gods show no mercy to the SRH vs GT encounter in Uppal on Thursday, both teams will share a point each. Gujarat will end their IPL 2024 campaign with 12 points with 2 abandoned games, while SRH will likely get the ‘Q’ mark with 15 points in their kitty. The Orange Army will then have a chance to finish the league stage with 17 points as they will be left with one more game, against Punjab Kings on Sunday.

Another win will be enough for the Sunrisers to seal a playoff berth as they need only one point to ensure qualification. But the Pat Cummins-led side will also want to challenge for the top two spots, which is a possibility considering they have one more game after this match and a healthy net run rate of +0.406.

SRH have made a habit of securing unbelievable victories throughout the season but have also suffered sizeable defeats, including against GT (by 7 wickets) earlier in the competition.

The boom or bust approach by the batters has either done exceedingly well or has simply let the side down, including three times in the last five games, where SRH lost to RCB (by 35 runs), CSK (by 78 runs) and MI (by 7 wickets).

On the other hand, the Titans, who have only five wins from 13 games and are on 11 points, are out of the reckoning and will look to end their forgettable campaign on a high. With former skipper Hardik Pandya moving to Mumbai Indians this season, GT struggled to find a replacement for the all-rounder who was key to their title-winning run in 2022 and runners-up finish last year.

The absence of pacer Mohammed Shami, who was ruled out of the tournament due to injury, has also hurt them.
