'Simple Funda Hai Unka...': Axar Patel Hails Captain Rohit Sharma for 'Recognizing the Strength of His Bowler'
Axar Patel revealed that Rohit Sharma as a captain is someone who likes to keep things simple and trusted his bowlers to do the job.

The Indian international all-rounder, Axar Patel has lift the lid on what it is like being a bowler playing under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. It is safe to say that the southpaw had great things to say about his skipper and pointed out some of Rohit’s best qualities as a leader.

Speaking in an interview with Vimal Kumar, Axar suggested that Rohit as the skipper likes to keep it simple on the field. However, he is also someone who does his research as well before the games.

“Simple funda hai unka. He doesn’t like to complicate things too much. He comes in after learning his lessons. He knows which bowler will be used in what kind of situation and which one won’t and after that he would leave it to the bowlers,” Axar shared.

As far as Rohit’s approach to his bowlers is concerned, Axar commented that the captain does not prefer to tinker much with the bowlers and their field-setting. But rather he knows his bowlers’ skill sets and rather optimises where and when he wants to use a bowler instead.

Axar said, “He doesn’t interfere much with the bowlers. Yes if I ask that I want this thing and I am planning this, then he will give that without any qualms. But if that didn’t work then he would come in and suggest that it might not be working and say I feel something else might be better”.

Axar also revealed that he shares a great rapport with he Indian skipper and the two have never disagreed with each other or even had an argument as well.

“It has never, at least for me I haven’t argued with him, such is the rapport between us that I have never had an argument with him nor have I ever disagreed with him,” he added.

The Indian all-rounder also highlighted the fact that Rohit is not afraid to test out the untested such as the traditional match-ups that are being used in the shortest format.

“Rohit as a captain does not think that a lefty cannot bowl to a left-arm batter or a righty to a right-arm batter. That is the sign of a captain whether you can recognise the strength of the bowler and know that this person can get you out of a tough situation,” he concluded.
