Shubman Gill Livid After Controversial Call; Gets Involved in Heated Argument With Umpire | WATCH

Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill was seen fuming over an umpire’s call during his side’s IPL 2024 fixture against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday.

In the 17th over of the game, Gill was seen in a heated exchange with the umpire after a wide call which went against his unit.

Mohit Sharma’s delivery which was beyond the wide tramline was signalled as an extra initially by the on-field umpire. The Titans, who were unhappy with the call, opted for a review and the third umpire initially asked the onfield official to overturn his decision as Sanju Samson, the batter at the crease, had moved a bit across the sticks before the ball was released.

However, on further inspection, the official upstairs asked the on-field umpire to stick to his original decision of a wide. This infuriated Gill, who got into an argument with the umpire.

GT won the toss and opted to bowl first against unbeaten Rajasthan, as the hosts got off to a steady start thanks to young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. The Southpaw dealt in boundaries and managed to put up a score of 24 runs before falling prey to Umehs Yadav. GT’s Afghan spin wizard Rashid Khan managed to remove the dangerous Jos Buttler cheaply for 8 runs as the Englishman knicked one onto the slips.

RR were 42/2 in the sixth over as skipper Samson and youngster Riyan Parag came in to steady the ship with their incredible 130-run partnership.

Parag went for the big shots early on and managed to make a massive 76-run contribution to his side’s cause before being dismissed in the penultimate over by Mohit Sharma.

Skipper Samson remained unbeaten at 68 off just 38 deliveries to close out the innings alongside Shimron Hetmyer, who played a cameo consisting of a couple of boundaries that took RR to a score of 196 in their 20 over quota.
