Not Jasprit Bumrah or Mohammad Shami, Marnus Labuschagne Enjoys Battle with This Indian Pacer
Ahead of Australia’s cricketing summer, Marnus Labuschagne opened up on his battle against Mohammed Siraj.

Team India will be travelling to Australia later this year to reignite their Test rivalry in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Unlike the previous editions, the upcoming series will be a 5-match affair which will get underway in November 2024.

The India vs Australia Test series will promise an intense clash between superstars of both teams. One of the battles to watch out for would be between Marnus Labuschagne and Mohammed Siraj. While the Aussie batter made his Test debut in 2018, the Indian quick was introduced to the longest format of the game in the Melbourne Test in 2020.

Ahead of Australia’s cricketing summer, Labuschagne opened up on his battle against Siraj. Speaking with Star Sports, the Australian batter praised Siraj’s energy and passion for the game.

“I enjoy battles with Mohammed Siraj. We were at the academy back in 2015-16 and he was working with the MRF pace academy. We played against each other and that was the first time I met him. To see his career, go in that direction. He has got great energy, great passion and a great love for the game. Almost our careers are moving together from such different experiences,” Labuschagne said.

Jaiswal – the NextGen Superstar

The likes of Steve Smith, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Alex Carey believe Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has the potential to become the next-generation superstar. In a video uploaded by Star Sports Tamil on X, when Australian cricketers were asked to pick the Indian cricketer who they believe has the potential to be the next generation superstar, Smith, along with Starc, Hazlewood, and Lyon, backed Jaiswal, whereas Travis Head and Cameron Green mentioned Shubman Gill’s name.

“Jaiswal could be a generational superstar,” Smith said. “Jaiswal’s probably the next big superstar, I think,” added Starc.

“I think Shubman Gill has the potential to become a superstar,” said Green.

“Well, I think Jaiswal’s, yeah, the next cricket superstar to come from India,” said Carey.

“Next generation superstar, I think… Jaiswal,” said Hazlewood.

“I believe Jaiswal will be the next generation superstar,” added Lyon.

“Jaiswal, I think, looks like a proper cricketer for all formats. I mean, him and Shubman are very good,” said Labuschagne, who is Australia’s leading run scorer in WTC history.
