The Mumbai Indians squad looks focused as they prepare for their upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 fixture against the Punjab Kings. The five-time IPL champions recently shared a mini travel vlog, showcasing the team’s arrival in Punjab ahead of their IPL match on Thursday, April 18.

MI now shared a video of their players on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) where they can be seen warming up for Thursday’s game against the Shikhar Dhawan-led side at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium. The video features big names like Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Romario Shepherd, Nuwan Thushara and Luke Wood performing some intense exercises. The cricketers are also seen doing catch practices followed by bowling and batting sessions in the nets. The caption of the post read, “Training at full tilt in Punjab & ‘camera emoji’ with the Paltan”.

The coaching duo of Lasith Malinga and Kieron Pollard were also spotted in the training video. The West Indies veteran shared a few words with Romario Shepherd before he entered the nets. Whereas, the legendary Sri Lanka fast bowler was spotted having a conversation with ace Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah while sitting beside him. This was followed by a montage of a gym session in which Suryakumar Yadav and his other teammates can be seen performing deadlifts and pushups.

Mumbai Indians had a slow start to their IPL 2024 campaign, recording two victories in six matches played so far. A victory against the Punjab Kings would be a step in the right direction. Mumbai Indians will be heading into the clash following a defeat against Chennai Super Kings last week.

The El Clasico of IPL lived up to the hype as the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side beat Mumbai Indians by 20 runs. A brilliant cameo from MS Dhoni saw the legendary skipper send three sixes flying in the final over of the first innings, setting a total of 206/4. During the run chase, Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant 63-ball 105 but it just did not prove to be enough for a win for Mumbai Indians

As for the Punjab Kings, the Shikhar Dhawan-led side is currently in seventh place on the IPL 2024 points table. They have managed to register two victories in six games so far this season. The Punjab-based franchise will also be aiming for a third victory this season on Thursday.
