'Jatt is Here': PBKS Fast Bowler Nathan Ellis Arrives for IPL 2024 in Style
Australia fast bowler Nathan Ellis played 10 matches for the Punjab Kings during IPL 2023.

Australian pacer Nathan Ellis has arrived in India to represent the Punjab Kings in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.

On Sunday, the Punjab-based franchise shared a video on Instagram where Ellis can be seen reaching the team hotel.

PBKS have set up its pre-season camp for the 2024 IPL at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Mohali, where they will also be playing their home fixtures in this season’s IPL.

The majority of the squad members, including captain Shikhar Dhawan, have already kicked off their preparations at the training facility while the remaining players are set to join the team this week.

PBKS announced the arrival of Ellis in a desi style as the caption of the Instagram post read, “Sadde Nathan jeha jatt milda ae rare, [You will hardly find someone like our Nathan].”

Ellis seems to have become quite familiar with the Punjabi culture. The Aussie pacer was seen performing Bhangra before giving a shout-out to the fans in the native language.

Ellis first joined PBKS in the middle of the 2021 IPL edition to replace another Australian fast-bowler Riley Meredith.

Ellis hit the headlines by fetching a hat-trick on his international debut against Bangladesh in August 2021. He got to play three matches in his debut IPL season before being retained him at the 2022 auction for Rs 75 lakh.

Last season, Ellis featured in 10 matches and picked up a total of 13 wickets.

Despite putting up some commendable performances over the seasons, P{BKS have only played the final once  – in 2014 – when Kolkata Knight Riders beat them by three wickets in a high-scoring clash.

PBKS had reached the semi-finals of the inaugural 2008 IPL but could not advance to the summit clash.

They’ve roped in some talented players across departments at the 2024 auction, which was held in December last year. They broke the bank for Indian pacer Harshal Patel and signed him for Rs 11.75 crore. They have also secured the services of South African batter Rilee Rossouw and English speedster Chris Woakes.

PBKS will begin their IPL 2024 journey with a home match against Delhi Capitals on March 23.
