SRH shelled out a whopping amount of Rs 20.50 crore to acquire the services of Cummins at the IPL 2024 auction held in December last year. Cummins has so far done an impressive job to justify his price tag. He has led Sunrisers Hyderabad to three victories from five games till now this season. In terms of individual performance as well, Cummins has been in fine form scalping six wickets. Needless to say, for Sunrisers Hyderabad, a franchise that has not lifted the prized IPL trophy since their triumph in 2016, Cummins has emerged as a godlike figure.

The admiration for Pat Cummins was quite evident in the video in which a fan can be seen worshipping the Australia international lighting incense sticks. “Captain Sir. We Love you anna (big brother) Pat Cummins,” read the caption of the post shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

With six points from five games, Sunrisers Hyderabad now find themselves placed at the fifth spot in the IPL 2024 standings. In their last match, the Pat Cummins-led side scripted a nail-biting two-run win against Punjab Kings. Defending a target of 183, Sunrisers Hyderabad claimed a thrilling triumph on Tuesday. Following the victory, Cummins praised his players for putting up an all-round show.

“Was a great game of cricket, they bowled well at the start, we did well to get to 180, did pretty well to defend but got pretty close. The beauty of the Impact Player is you feel like you’ve got deep batting,” Pat Cummins said at the post-match presentation.

“Always tried to be positive to take the game on. It was tough early on, they bowled exceptionally with the new ball. You have to be aggressive. With 150 or 160, you are probably going to lose nine out of ten games anyway. We knew that the new ball was going to be key. We were pretty happy to get to 180,” Pat Cummins added.

Batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a formidable total of 182. Nitish Kumar Reddy was the highest scorer for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Reddy played a fine knock of 64 off 37 balls. He later also picked up the crucial wicket of Punjab Kings wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also bagged two wickets as Punjab Kings could reach 180 in 20 overs.
