'B.E.L.I.E.V.E': Rishabh Pant Takes A Swipe At Win Predictor After India Beat Pakistan in a Low-scoring Thriller
It was victory that was not in the cards for India against their arch-rivals Pakistan but they managed to beat the odds and make it two wins in as many games.

Team India made a mockery of the win predictor as they showed tremendous fighting spirit to edge past Pakistan in a thrilling T20 World Cup match on June 9. The Men in Blue batted first on the tricky New York surface and managed only 119 runs, losing all wickets in 19 overs.

At the end of the first innings, anyone could hardly predict that India would have had the last laugh in the Group A fixture. Even in the middle of Pakistan’s chase, the win predictor showed that India had only an 8 per cent chance in the low-scoring clash. The Indian bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, ultimately proved it wrong, restricting Pakistan to 113 runs in 20 overs.

After the match was wrapped up, Rishabh Pant took a dig at the win predictor through a social media post. The Indian wicketkeeper-batter shared some glimpses of the nail-biting encounter on Instagram and wrote in the caption, “B.E.L.I.E.V.E.”

When the other Indian batters failed miserably, Rishabh Pant showcased his A-game against Pakistan. He arrived at the crease following the dismissal of Virat Kohli in the second over. He stitched a crucial 39-run partnership with Axar Patel, who also failed to survive long and returned with 20 runs.

Pant kept the scoreboard ticking with occasional boundaries. While all of the incoming batters managed a one-digit score, Pant singlehandedly contributed 42 runs to the scoresheet. He smashed six boundaries before losing his wicket to Mohammad Amir.

India needed something special in the second innings to change the course of the match. Rishabh Pant pulled off some exceptional fielding efforts, assisting the bowlers in defending the low target. He took three important catches and helped India make a comeback.

While Rishabh Pant was the top-performing batter for India, Jasprit Bumrah stole the show with the ball. Thepacer took three wickets and gave away only 14 runs in his four-over spell. He sent off Babar Azam in the powerplay before taking the crucial wickets of Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed. Bumrah was named the Player of the Match.

India will meet co-hosts USA in their upcoming group-league fixture, which will be hosted at the Nassau County stadium in New York on June 12.
