The All India Selection Committee has announced the squads for India A for the second and third multi-day matches against England Lions. Domestic cricket star Abhimanyu Easwaran will continue to lead the Indian team in the multi-day matches.
Meanwhile, Sarfaraz Khan has been picked for the second match but will leave the squad before the third match. While India’s new rising star Rinku Singh got a place in the third match.
Kumar Kushagra got his maiden call-up in the India A squad for the second and third unofficial ‘Test’ against England Lions.
Kushagra and Upendra Yadav will be the two wicketkeepers as both Kona Bharat and Dhruv Jurel have been selected in the senior team for the first two Tests against England.
On a day when he scored a half-century for Jharkhand in a Ranji Trophy game in the national capital, Kushagra’s career got the much-needed boost.
Sourabh Kumar, the left-arm spinner, will play the second ‘Test’ from January 24-27 while Shams Mulani has finally been rewarded with an India A call-up for the final game in Ahmedabad from February 4-7.
Arshdeep Singh will also get two red ball games to stake claim for an upgrade while Rinku Singh will replace Sarfaraz Khan in the final game.
Meanwhile, Abhimanyu Easwaran’s failures in potentially career-changing games continued as England ‘A’ is looking good to record a facile victory over India A with only six wickets to get after third day’s play in the first unofficial ‘Test’ here on Friday.
Chasing a tough target of 490, India were precariously placed at 159 for 4 at stumps.
