Amidst eager anticipation for the release of the Siruthai Siva-directed movie Kanguva, a viral video of Suriya, the film’s lead actor, is making rounds on social media. The final shoot for Kanguva took place at the EVP Studios in Chennai, capturing pivotal scenes of Suriya’s character. However, a recent incident during the shoot has raised concerns about the actor’s well-being.

The video, showcasing build-up scenes of Suriya walking and looking back, was filmed a few days ago around 11 pm. Unfortunately, an unexpected mishap occurred as a rope car descended during the shoot, scraping Suriya’s shoulder. While the crew confirmed that the actor sustained a minor injury to his shoulder, Suriya has been undergoing treatment.

In an update shared on his social media, Suriya assured fans that his health is improving. However, doctors have advised him to take an additional two weeks of rest to ensure a complete recovery. This development may potentially impact the shooting schedule for Kanguva.

Meanwhile, a heartwarming video of Jyothika, Suriya’s wife and renowned actress, picking him up at the airport has gone viral. Reports suggest that Suriya, accompanied by Jyothika, has taken a break and travelled to Mumbai.

Kanguva is an ambitious project that intertwines historical events with contemporary themes. Directed by Siruthai Siva, the film features a stellar cast, including Disha Patani, Yogi Babu, Anandraj and Redin Kingsley. With music composed by Devi Sri Prasad, Kanguva is expected to grace the screens in the summer of the coming year.

Notably, Kanguva is slated for release in early 2024, presented in 3D and IMAX formats. The film aims to transcend linguistic boundaries, with plans for release in 38 languages. Remarkably, it has already made headlines for its pre-release financial success, reportedly recovering more than Rs 180 crore (US$23 million), setting a record for Tamil cinema. Digital rights for the South Indian market were secured for Rs 80 crore, while Pen Studios acquired the Hindi satellite, digital and theatrical rights for Rs 100 crore.
