Sensex up 100 pts in strong opening
There has been a buying interest in the cement, metals and banking stocks that have propelled the markets forward.

New Delhi: The stock markets opened on a bullish note on Friday climbing more than a hundred points on good cues from the Asian markets.

The Indian stocks followed the Asian markets like Hong Kong's Hang Seng which was up by 0.95 per cent, Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted surged 1.09 per cent, Singapore's Straits Times gained 0.67 per cent and South Korea's Seoul Composite was up 0.16 per cent.

There has been a buying interest in the cement, metals and banking stocks that have propelled the markets forward.

All the Sensex indices were trading in green and the market breadth was in favour of advancing stocks.

At 9:56 am, Sensex was up 111 points at 14189 and Nifty was up 26 points at 4177. Major gainers in the opening trade were Tata Steel, SAIL, ACC, Ambuja Cement, HLL, Tata Motors, Grasim, Bajaj Auto, RIL, Rel Comm and Hero Honda.
