Pranab gives Delhi Police Rs 3,867.33 crore
The Delhi Police on Friday got an increase of Rs 526.58 crore in the budget allocation for the next fiscal.

New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Friday got an increase of Rs 526.58 crore in the budget allocation for the next fiscal with Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee allocating Rs 3,867.33 crore for its operation.

The housing and police building projects will get a boost with Mukherjee substantially increasing the allocation in both the heads to Rs 260.50 crore from the previous year's Rs 31 crore.

The housing projects will get Rs 62 crore, up from last year's Rs ten crore, while police building projects will get a whopping Rs 198.50 crore, an increase from last year's Rs 21 crore.

In the Budget presented in Lok Sabha on Thursday by Mukherjee, the city police was allocated a total of Rs 41.5 crore in plan head while Rs 3,563.33 crore was earmarked for non-plan expenditure.

In 2010-11, Rs 3,340.75 crore was proposed in the Budget while the force ended up spending Rs 3,373.40 crore.

The budgetary provisions for developing traffic and communication network and a model traffic system has been allocated Rs 20 crore, down from Rs 82 crore in 2011.

For upgrading training facilities and installation of traffic signals, Rs three crore each has been allocated while another Rs one crore has been allocated for the induction of latest technology.
