Since opening on January 13, 2024, over 50 lakh vehicles have crossed the Atal Setu, a remarkable milestone achieved in just a few months.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 21.5 km long bridge, which has since become a crucial link for the city.
According to the Indian Express, Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, Commissioner of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), highlighted the bridge’s success, saying, “Atal Setu has transformed Mumbai’s traffic flow. The sheer number of vehicles using the bridge shows how vital it is for the city.”
Atal Setu not only improves connectivity between South Mumbai and key areas like the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport, but it also promises faster commutes with ongoing infrastructure projects.
The Worli-Sewri elevated road is 75 percent complete and will soon offer a quick 5 to 10-minute route from Worli Sea Face to the bridge. Additionally, an elevated road between the Chirle Interchange and the Mumbai-Pune Expressway is under construction, aiming to speed up travel across South Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Panvel, Pune, and the Mumbai-Goa Highway.
Here’s a breakdown of the vehicles that have crossed the Atal Setu:
