Tablighi Jamaat leader Maulana Saad Kandhalvi is on the run after an FIR was registered against him by the Delhi police for organising a religious gathering in March this year despite restrictions to combat the coronavirus spread.

The Jamaat members were arrested for entering the state after attending the congregation in Delhi Nizamuddin Marqaz in March without informing the local authorities.

Both police and medical authorities denied their alleged negligence which the family said led to the death Monday of vegetable vendor Satish Agrawal, who lived in curfew-bound Faithagadi in Kota's Rampura area.

The nationwide tally of coronavirus positive cases, in the meantime, rose to 28,380 with at least 886 deaths, but more than 6,300 patients have been discharged, pushing the recovery rate to over 22 per cent, according to the Union Health Ministry.

The order was issued on Monday by the Principal Secretary UAD Sanjay Dubey who stated that COVID-19 has been notified as an infectious disease in the state and this spreads through sneezing, coughing and spitting.
